                            Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

The sensational London musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a blockbuster 2005 musical which is adapted from the hugely popular 1988 movie with the similar name starring Steve Martin and Michael Cane. Composer David Yazbek and writer Jeffrey Lane’s 2005 musical was a complete treat for the theatre lovers.

At the famous Imperial Theatre of Broadway, the scintillating musical version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels enjoyed successful 600 performances. The show has enjoyed great success all over Stockholm, Seoul, Stuttgart and Sydney. The brand new London production made its preview from 10th March at the Savoy Theatre and enjoyed great reviews during the thrilling UK tour.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is set against the backdrop of stunning French Riviera where Casino culture was at peak. Con-artist Lawrence Jameson used to fool wealthy women out of their money. In this conning, Andre, his bodyguard was his associate.

However, the rule of Lawrence comes under threat with the arrival of super smart Freddy. A deal between the two com artist has been done of conning a $50,000 from a wealthy women to remain in the city. On the other hand, the loser has to leave the city. Both of them do their best to prove their mettle. But destiny has something else in store for them as their feelings towards the woman changed.

 John Lithgow as Lawrence and Norbert Leo Butz as Freddy acted in the original Broadway production and won prestigious Tony award and Drama Desk for Best Actor in Musical. Sherie Rene Scott starred as Christine alongside Joanna Gleason as Muriel and bowled over the audience with their mesmerizing performances.

The two hours and thirty minutes show is ideal for 12+ children. Earlier writing credits of Yazbek include The Full Monty’ and ‘Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown’. The London production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels stars Robert Lindsay as Lawrence (My Family), Rufus Hound as Freddy (One Man, Two Guvnors), Katherine Kingsley as Christine (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Noel Coward Theatre), Bond Girl Samantha Bond as Muriel (Downton Abbey) and John Marquez as Andre (Privates on Parade, Noel Coward).

Jerry Mitchell’s spectacular choreography and direction makes the show a remarkable experience. With the Olivier award winning hit Broadway and Westend musical Legally Blonde, the hugely talented director made its debut. His other credits includes Tony award winning musical Kinky Boots!
