is all set to welcome the brand new London show, The Girls which is adapted
from the popular hit movie and play Calendar Girls. The sensational new
musical, The Girls is all set to make its debut at the Phoenix Theatre from
February 2017. You can buy advance tickets now as they are on sale from 16th
September 2016.
Gary Barlow is a
world renowned TV star and the iconic musician. The Girls is a fresh musical
co-written with Tim Firth. The hugely talented writer was behind the original
film as well as play versions of Calendar Girls. The Girls is a rib tickling
funny show which followed true story a group of daring WI ladies from Yorkshire.
All these women decide to create a nude calendar in order to raise money for
cancer.
The movie
version was directed by Nigel Cole and starred Helen Mirren and Julie Walters.
The movie went on becoming instant hit.
London stage welcomed the new adaptation in the year 2009 under the superb
direction of original writer Tim Firth. The show, Calendar Girls opened with
great reviews at the Noel Coward Theatre followed by successful UK tour.
In the brand new
version has Tim Firth has collaborated with Gary Barlow which leads to the
creation of a beautiful new show. During its preview runs, the show generated huge
excitement in Leeds and Salford.
Barlow is
another hugely loved and recognisable pop acts in the UK. He is known for
amazing solo career with countless hit records along with his band Take That.
Some of the hugely popular British TV programs and films like Calendar Girls and
Kinky Boots are penned by Tim Firth. Previews of the show will start at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End on 28th January
2017.
