Get set for the
award winning and the most honoured Broadway musical of 2015, An American
in Paris at Dominion Theatre! The show
is all set to make its remarkable debut at the London’s West End, featuring
music of George Gershwin, one of the greatest musical composers of all time.
The show is the winner of several prestigious awards such as four Tony Awards
for its state-of-the-art design, powerful music and evocative storyline. The
show is praised a lot by critics and now set to win the hearts of London
Westend theatre lovers.
anticipated show is inspired from the 1951 Academy award winning movie, An
American in Paris. The story revolves around the life of an American soldier,
Jerry Mulligan, who relocates to Paris after World War II where he meets a
mysterious French ballerina, Lise Dassin.
Jerry falls in love with Lise, but to discover that she is about to get
married to his wartime friend Henri.
An American in
Paris is a heart touching love saga which beautifully depicts pain and anguish in
true love. George Gershwin’s musical scores are one of the key highlights of
the London show. He is known for penning other popular musicals such as Crazy
For You and Funny Face. Under the superb direction and choreography of Christopher
Wheeldon, the show is a complete treat for theatre lovers.
The creative team comprises of Tony Award winners Bob Crowley for costume and
set design, Natasha Katzfor lighting and Jon Weston for sound.
The lead role of
Jerry and Lise is portrayed by the Tony nominated Robert Fairchild and Leanna
Cope. They will reprise their Broadway roles of Jerry and Lise in London
Westend. Henri Baurel will be portrayed by Haydn Oakley of The Book of Mormon
and Sunset Boulevard fame, Zoë Rainey of Wicked and The Winter's Tale fame will
portray Milo Davenport, Jane Asher of Blithe Spirit and Alfie fame as Madame
Baurel and David Seadon-Young of Ghost fame as Adam Hochberg. Preview of the
show will start from March 2017 at Dominion Theatre.
