Consent
After an immensely successful and
sold out session at the National Dorman’s Theatre, Nina Raine’s blistering new show
Consent is all set to make its debut at the West End for a limited season. Under
the spectacular production of Sonia Friedman, the outstanding brand new show
gives an edgy view over the discussion of consent by the justice system.
There are few questions that are
being raised here regarding the justice especially of the UK legal system.
Whether justice is blind, impartial or blinkered? The show holds a much debated
topic. Consent depicts opposing briefs taken by two good friends in a
contentious legal case. The case leads to severely loosen their lives both in
court and at home.
In a sensitive rape trial, a
lawyer defends opposite a friend where the prime witness is a woman. Consent is
an edgy show that finely depicts all versions of the truth and they are
challenged as a consent becomes a topic of contention.
Consent features some of the
finest performances from wonderful actors such as Heather Craney known for The
Vote, Passion Play and Adam James popularly known for Doctor Foster has made return
to reprise their roles. Other new cast members are Claudie Blakley of The
Painkiller, Chimerica fame and Stephen Campbell Moore of All My Sons, Chimerica
fame. Other casting members are Clare Foster, Lee Ingleby and Thusitha
Jayasundera.
Under the magnificent direction
of Roger Michell, Consent is a complete treat to watch. Some of his previous
credits are running across the National Theatre, RSC and Royal Court. Other
highlights are set design by Hildegard Bechtler, costume design by Dinah
Collin, lighting design by Rick Fisher, sound design by John Leonard and
original compositions by Kate Whitley.
Nina Raine’s exciting new play
